Geraldine Gaines Wofford, known affectionately as “Geri”, passed away on May 22, 2026 at NHC Healthcare in Clinton, SC at the age of 85. She was born February 15, 1941, to Joe and Gussie Dutton Gaines and born in Rock Hill, SC. She was an avid reader and loved collecting Hummingbirds.
She is survived by her daughters Lynn Wilson of Greenville, Tammie Strickland (George) of Clinton, Lisa Johnson Franklin of Clinton and Lori Johnson of Taylors; brothers Ronnie Gaines and Jerry Gaines. Grandchildren: Brent Thomas, Brandi Thomas, Lee James, Nicole Sellars (Jasen), Colt Strickland, Kayla Collins (Nathan), Ashton Franklin, Rowan Franklin, Taylor Johnson, Cody Ricks and Dustin Ricks (Martina). 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Vernon W. Gaines, Kenneth “Joe” Gaines and sister Garthalon Earl. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Michelle Franklin.
The family would like to thank her caregivers at NHC Healthcare in Clinton and Caris Hospice of Greenwood for showing her so much love and compassion during her time at NHC Healthcare.
