Barbara Stafford Webb

Barbara Stafford Webb, age 99, passed away on 30 November 2023 at National Health Care nursing home in Laurens, SC. A member of Congaree Presbyterian Church in Cayce since 1954, she is survived by her son David (Kerri) of West Columbia and her daughter, Pamela Webb Tubbs (Ace) of Norfolk, VA; three grandsons, David Christian Tubbs (Jackie), of Washington, DC, Rev. Gordon Stafford Tubbs (Brett), of Greenwood, SC, and Christopher Johns (Hannah) of Loveland, CO; six great-grandsons: Declan Draper Tubbs, Ethan Emil Tubbs, John Stafford Tubbs, Daniel Ray Tubbs, Michael James Tubbs, and Sullivan Johns; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Born in Paintsville, Kentucky in 1924, she was the daughter of Harry Gordon Stafford and Ruth Burch Stafford. Barbara was a business graduate of Mayo Technical College in Paintsville. She managed her husband’s office (Webb Appliance Service in West Columbia) for over 40 years. She was a published author (“West of Nod”, “Return to Eden”), a landscape and portrait artist, a gifted seamstress and tailor who was awarded numerous SC State Fair ribbons, an expert bridge player, and a “Jeopardy” maven. At Church, she served as an Elder, Church Office manager, Sunday School teacher, and 35 years as Church Historian. Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, James Emil Webb, their son James Laurence (Larry) Webb, her sister, Dorothy Stafford Reid, and three brothers, Earl, Gordon, and James Stafford. A memorial will be held at the church on Friday, January 5, 2024, with interment at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and their son.
