John Richard “Rick” Stewart, Jr., of Greenville, SC, was called home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2026, at the age of 71. He was born on November 2, 1954, in Spruce Pine, NC.
Above all else, Rick loved his sons, who were the pride of his life. He was a highly skilled construction superintendent who took great pride in his work and believed in doing the job right. Throughout his career, he oversaw projects at Furman University, Hillcrest High School, downtown Clemson, and the FedEx Ground facility in Greenville, among others. He also cherished time spent fishing.
He is survived by his sons: Cleve (Ashton) of Spartanburg and their children, Bryson, Brody, Brock, Baker, and Annie; Chris (Jessica) of Woodruff and their children, Kayden and Hunter; and Chase (Ashley) of Laurens and their children, Kennedy and Baylor; as well as his sister, Nancy Stewart Witt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and Irma Louise Robinson Stewart, and his sisters, Sherry Stewart Silvers and Paula Stewart Judge.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to C.A.S.T. for Kids or the American Stroke Association.
